History: The All-UC Group in Economic History was founded in 1972 to energize faculty and graduate students from all campuses of the University of California. In the last 37 years it has organized an extensive series of research initiatives, conferences, seminar, and graduate student retreats that have made the University of California the world’s leading center for the study of economic history.
Funding: The Office of the President provides permanent funding for the Group's base budget. But the Group's wide-ranging activities have been made possible by additional support from internal and extramural sources, listed under “Donors and Co-Sponsors.”
Membership: The group welcomes as participants faculty and graduate students at any of the UC campuses with an interest in issues relating to economic history. If you would like inclusion on our mailing list please just send your details to Mary Davis.
Emmanuel Saez of UC Berkeley and the All-UC Group has just been awarded the John Bates Clark award of the American Economic Association for 2009. The award is given every second year to "that American economist under the age of 40 who is adjudged to have made a significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge." Many past awardees have gone on to win the Nobel Prize in Economics.
